Characteristics

Hedera 'Hibernica' is one of the most commonly used hedge plants. It is an Irish ivy and grows best in a shade or partial shade. This species grows very fast, which is a huge advantage, because the hedge is completely closed within 2-3 years. It is therefore an ideal plant for people who want privacy quickly. In our tree nursery we always start with 3 to 4 self-grown cuttings in each pot, which means that our stocked ivy is much more bushy. You can start immediately with a beautiful and high-quality plant, so that your hedge will close even faster. They are also provided with a bamboo stick to make a better adhesion to a wall or fence.  Hedera hibernica, also called Irish or Atlantic ivy, is a large, evergreen shrub that can be used as a climber or ground cover. It has large medium green, oval to heart-shaped leaves and small yellow-green flowers in upright racemes. After flowering, which lasts from July to September, small blue-black berries follow. Hedera helix 'arbori compact' does well in full sun, partial shade or even shade. The plant is undemanding to the soil, is quite hardy (better than the common hedera helix), and is often used for ground cover and planting, but can also be used as a solitary. This hedera is fairly sea wind tolerant, as well as air pollution resistant. Good bee plant. You can order these hedge plants online at Eeckhout-Decorte tree nursery!
